Constitutional Casualty Company was incorporated on April 11, 1956 under Illinois laws and began business August 15, 1956. Copco, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, a holding company purchased financial control on October 31, 1972, from Institutional Corporation of America. Operations were conducted under the name Institutional Insurance Company of America from the time of organization until November 1, 1972, when the present corporate title was adopted.

Operations emphasize the handling of preferred private passenger automobile coverage, homeowners, personal umbrella, liquor liability, general liability and commercial automobile coverage.

Approximately 200 independent agents serve as company representatives.
